Call for Nominations to the Executive Board

Guidelines for Nominations

New Deadline is 20 March 2016.

OWSD FULL Members can nominate OWSD Full Members for a position on the OWSD Excecutive Board (EB).

ALL the positions below are available for nominations:

• President
• 4 Vice Presidents (1 for each region)
• 4 regional members (1 for each region)

The current President, Fang Xin from China, will continue on the EB for the next cycle in an ex officio capacity.

Eligible Nominations

• Please note that members CANNOT nominate themselves. Self-nominations will not be accepted.
• Only OWSD FULL members can nominate.
• Only OWSD FULL members can be nominated.
• All OWSD Members can be found on this website. If the person you wish to nominate is not listed s/he is not eligible.
• The President may be nominated from any developing country/ region.
• Nominations for Vice Presidents and Regional Members must be from the regions indicated on the nomination form.
• According to the Statutes and as confirmed by the OWSD President and Nominations Committee, the members of the executive board can serve a maximum of two terms. Current board members eligible for re-election are clearly marked below. Board members must be nominated for election just like any other member.
• ALL positions are available for nominations.
• The person you nominate must agree to be nominated.

How to Nominate

You will need to provide the following and send as attachments via email to ga@owsd.net not later than 31 January 2016 :

For each person you wish to nominate please provide:
•    Nomination form (below)
•    Curriculum (CV) and/or biography
•    Photograph of the person if possible
•    Statement or 1 page summary

Statement for Nominated Candidate

This should include:

• a description of why this person is qualified for the EB position
• the person's research sector and field of experience
• a summary of how the person's motivations and experience relate to the OWSD goals
• and an understanding of the international or regional context for women in science and /or gender and science issues (please refer to Articles 2 and 3 of the OWSD statutes page) 

Please note that the post of OWSD President requires additional skills, experience and competencies:    
•    Diplomatic skills
•    Communication skills
•    Public relations expertise/ competence
•    Leadership qualities
•    International/ global awareness and impact (rather than national/ regional focus)
•    Influence and connection to policy and decision-makers.

Please note that shortlisted candidates will be asked to provide a vision statement in the next round in February/March 2016.
Final election will take place at the OWSD Fifth General Assembly in Kuwait City, Kuwait in May 2016
