Agricultural Sciences

My research interest is in the field of food safety and quality, particularly in the aspect of chemical food safety and quality. The research is multidisciplinary cut-across the entire chain farm to fork, which include agriculture, post-harvest, pretreatment, processing, packaging, retailing, transportation, consumer in both manufacturing and food service industries. The research is backed by UPM’s postgraduate program specializing in Food Safety (by research) and Master of Food Safety and Quality Assurance (non-thesis). I am also involved in conducting workshops and training courses in food safety and quality as part of my role in the extension education program. My recent involvement in such activities was a workshop that I conducted entitled “Introduction of acrylamide in foods and its method of detection” to a group of scientists from the Ministry of Health of Malaysia on 3 - 5 November, 2014.
