Current profession

Current professional activities type:
Research
Teaching
My work has been in the area of Organic Chemistry, Natural Products with emphasis on therapeutic activities of varying plant material and matter. This covers survey of plant material for those with potential therapeutic values, antifeedant activity, etc. Phytochemical screening for phytocompounds, bio-assays through antimicrobial, contact toxicity and cytotoxicity tests on plant extracts, identification and isolation of active constituents from plant materials reputed to have biological activities by chromatographic and spectroscopic methods. Synthesis/proposed synthesis of simple organic compounds that can serve as precursors/intermediates for other chemical compounds in chemical processes both at the laboratory level and for industrial purposes. Green Chemistry – Currently conducting collaborative research into the utilization of plants as nanoparticles for their potential assessment in insect pest management in post-harvest studies as well as production of precursors for laboratory and industrial chemicals. Teaching of various academic courses at both Undergraduate and Post Graduate Level, as well as serving as Internal and External Examiner for Undergraduate and Post-Graduate Theses and currently serving as Editorial Board member as well as reviewer/assessor for various publishing houses.
