Hepatitis B virus (HBV) which has the potential to cause liver diseases: cirrhosis and, liver cancer (can be fatal). Variants of HBV have also been implicated in Fulminant Liver Disease: this can be fatal within days. Moreover mutants of the virus, has been shown to show resistance to currently available pharmacological therapies. Recently published papers to document research on these topics.
