Based on IS6110 PCR technique, Mycobacterium tuberculosis could be grouped in 9 genotypes that showed variability according to the geographical area. Genotype I, followed by III, predominates in the area of Cochabamba; genotype I in Santa Cruz; and genotypes II and III in La Paz.
