Chemical Sciences

Dr Akens Hamilton-Amachree has undertaken several research projects in the extraction, analyses and industrial application of bioactive compounds. Her current research is on Extraction Optimisation of phytochemicals from by-products of selected plants growing abundantly in the low land rain forests of the Niger Delta Region of Nigeria. Green extraction Technologies are being explored. Her research also involves the use of hyphenated analytical techniques such as UPLC-MS, GC-MS and UV-Vis Spectroscopy in the analyses of the resultant complex plant matrices.
