As head of Laboratory Research in Molecular Parasitology at the Children’s Hospital in Mexico City, she is interested in six parasites involving infection and the host response, mainly parasites with clinical significance including immunocompromise patients. She study metabolic pathways, pharmacology, host response, identification of the parasites by molecular biology and when possible, animal experimental models. The parasites are E. histolytica, Giardia intestinalis, Trypanossoma cruzi, Gnathostoma binucleatum, Toxocara canis and Trichinella spiralis.
