Renewable Energy
A lack of access to clean energy disproportionately affects women and girls, who often bear the responsibility for collecting firewood and cooking with polluting fuels, leading to health problems and time poverty. Similarly, it is often women in the home who are responsible for keeping fragile people warm or cool. Transitioning to renewable energy sources (solar, wind, geothermal) can provide clean, affordable, and reliable energy, improving health outcomes and creating economic opportunities for women. OWSD members are working to address this challenge and positively impact the lives of women and girls.
