Higher Education Study
Omosede Osafile holds a PhD in Theoretical Physics. She believes in multidisciplinary and collaborative research aimed at impacting society. Her passion for collaborative research is evident from the path her research is taking upon completing her PhD. Her PhD research focussed on strongly correlated electron systems; this necessitated her modifying the standard Lanczos technique to obtain her results faster and with less computational power. The results compared well with existing results in the literature; this was a feat! Omosede is currently interested in how electrons affect the behaviour of various materials for technological applications. Her interest has resulted in collaborations with researchers from other disciplines; her work so far includes characterizing materials from first principles for application in semiconductors devices, thermoelectric materials, and solar systems. In recent times laser sealed solar cells from local materials and energy storage materials are very much on the radar of her research. Omosede is a principal researcher in a grant funded by the National Research Fund (NRF) and a collaborator in other internationally funded grants by CSIR and the Royal Academy of Engineering. She is a member of relevant professional bodies including the solar energy society of Nigeria (SESN) and the organisation of women in science in the developing world (OWSD). She reviews articles for reputable Scopus-indexed journals and is also an editorial board member. She is currently the Director of Sub-degree Programs in her institution and is involved in SDG projects.
