Dr. Woi Pei Meng is currently attached to University of Malaya as a researcher, specializing in electrochemistry studies. She graduated with distinction in 2011 with a PhD in Electrocatalysis under the Skim Latihan IPTA (SLAI) program, a scheme established by the Ministry of Education (MOE) to improve the quality of academic staff with the goal to make Malaysia a regional centre of higher learning. Her PhD work focused on the development of new electrode materials for electrocatalysis of dihydrogen uptake/evolution. During her PhD studies, she was attached with Energy Materials Laboratory in University of East Anglia, UK under the supervision of Prof. Chris Pickett and was given an opportunity to delve into the world of artificial iron-only hydrogenases with the aim of pursuing hydrogen as the next clean energy source. Presently the bulk of her research focus deals with the electrochemical sensor development including construction of non-enzymatic biosensors targeting human body metabolites, self-correcting divalent cations sensor for precision agriculture and electrode surface modification for hydrogen peroxide detection.
