My PhD focused on electron microscopic studies of oral anaerobic opportunistic pathogens. I graduated from the Faculty of Medicine, University of London and trained at the Institute of Dental Surgery in London.

My Masters thesis compared the oral microbiology of periodontitis-susceptible and periodontitis- resistant populations. I graduated from the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg.
