Undergraduate     Biological Systems and Organisms
I have experience in researching marine debris and microplastic contamination in matrices such as sand, sediments, water and fishery resources. My thesis degree focused on assessing the potential impacts of microplastics on commercially important fish and their impacts on human communities. I used tools such as Local Ecological Knowledge to analyse this issue from a socio-ecosystem perspective. In 2022, I had the opportunity to attend the 7th International Marine Debris Conference in South Korea. There, I gained insight into the proliferation of marine debris and the critical role of innovation in addressing this issue. Currently, I am a scientific researcher and my role involves supporting the development of technical-scientific projects and activities aimed at understanding and assessing plastic pollution in Colombia's coastal marine areas.
