About me

Lizeth is an Architect, graduated from the Engineering and Architecture Faculty of Central American University UCA, El Salvador in 2004, Master in Structural Engineering in 2014 and Master in Advanced Studies in Architecture in Spain in 2019, both by the Polytechnic University of Catalonia UPC, in Spain. She is a Doctor, from the PhD program in Technology of Architecture, Building and Urbanism at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya UPC, in Spain, Carolina Foundation Fellow of the Spanish Government in 2024.Doctoral. Thesis Research Topic: Comparative Life-cycle assessment of buildings constructed with industrialized prefabrication in Mediterranean and Tropical latitudes.

Lizeth born in Natal, Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil, she is a naturalized Salvadoran. She has received language and writing training in Spanish, Portuguese, English, French and Catalan.

She has completed postgraduate studies in areas related to building, such as: Diploma in Energy Efficiency applied to Buildings in 2011 by UCA El Salvador, Training Course, Enhancement and dissemination of Earthquak-resistant technology for buildings in 2016 by the International Institute of Seismology and Earthquake Engineering IISEE, in Japan, Diploma in evaluation of scenarios for natural disaster risk reduction by the Pontifical Catholic University of Santiago in 2018, in Chile, as a Fellow of the Japan International Cooperation Agency, JICA of the Japanese Government. Postgraduate courses on wastewater treatment and construction quality control by El Salvadoran associations (ASIA, CASALCO, ISCYC).

Research Professor in the Department of Space Organization of the Central American University UCA: Temporary Professor from 2005-2012, Permanent Associate Professor from 2013-2022 Permanent Full Professor 1 from 2022 to date. Professor of Construction Technology II, III, IV, V, Technical Workshop, Technical Electives, for Architecture, accredited by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology in El Salvador. She has directed Graduation Works developing models and prototypes that incorporate R&D. Invited postgraduate professor and lecturer in Panama, Ecuador, Peru, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Argentina, USA, Spain, United Kingdom, and Italy.

Researcher Level II in the Registry of Researchers in Science and Technology of El Salvador CONACYT. Principal Investigator in three research projects 2012-2024: "ECO-Materials" funded by UCA funds, "Thermal behavior in roofs" funded by funds from the El Salvador Government. "Net Zero Energy Buildings in El Salvador" co-financed by the United States Agency for International Development USAID, industry and UCA. On two occasions she has been National Award for Scientific Research promoted by National Science and Technology Council CONACYT El Salvador, in category Environment 2017 and category Energy 2019, she has also been Honorable Mention in category Energy 2017. She has been an exhibitor at the Ibero-American Design Biennial BID, in the Research and Design category in 2018 Madrid, Spain. On two occasions she has won Biennial Award in the Research and Publication category, 2014 and 2016, Honorable Mention in 2018 in biennials promoted by Association of Architects of El Salvador and Honorable Mention in International Biennial of Costa Rica 2020.

Author and co-author of publications on technology application in design processes, research and development, integrative design methodology, design processes according to sustainability parameters, holistic and critical approach.

Consultant and lecturer on issues of environmental sustainability, housing and technological development, for institutions such as ECLAC-UN in Chile, and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), in El Salvador: Municipality of San Salvador, Municipality of Sonsonate and Patronage El Carmen Santa Tecla in El Salvador.

Manager and Project Director in a consortium of construction companies: Tropic Corporation, from 2005-2012, having coordinated the developed an urbanization project of 120 hectares, as well as, housing design, with which she has participated as an exhibitor in Central American Biennials and Design Competitions between 2010 and 2024.
