Degrees:

2015
Master     Biological Systems and Organisms
My Masters in Andean Tropical Agroecology was more lab-based and experimental, looking at the acaricidal effects of essential oils on mites of crop plants. Here, I learned about the importance of the use of esential oil against insect and spent time making laboratory test. Actually, i am a doctoral candidate by the Montpellier University.
2009
Undergraduate     Biological Systems and Organisms
I studied for my undergraduate (Licenciatura) degree at the Catholic University in Ecuador and worked on the natural history, life cycle, and parasitism of Mechanitis menapis mantineus for my year-long thesis (undergraduate theses in Latin America are much longer than in Europe, as I am sure you know, and are intended to prepare students for professional work). For this thesis, I investigated 1 year and spent 24 months in the cloud forests of Mindo. This work led to a publication in Physiological Ecology (Despland & Santacruz 2016). In addition, I published the last year in Revista de Biología Tropical (Santacruz, Despland & Giraldo 2019).
