About me

Prof. Tinuola Adebolu is a Professor of Medical Microbiology at the Department of Microbiology, Federal University of Techology, Akure, Nigeria. Her research areas are Infections and Immunity and Conventional Therapies. She has published more than one hundred and forty scientific papers in her research areas in both local (onshore) and international (offshore) reputable journals. Her current h-index is 14 and i-10 index of 21 (Google Scholar).

Prof. Tinuola Tinuola completed her PhD in Microbiology at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State, Nigeria in the year, 1993. Her research area is Medical Microbiology (Infections and Immunity/Non-conventional therapy). She has successfully supervised more than 40 graduate students, at both Masters’ and PhD levels and currently supervising quite a number of them. She collaborates with colleagues in her field conducting research on how to alleviate health problems caused by microorganisms in man. Her present research focus is on the potentials of some indigenous foods and herbs as alternatives to conventional therapy in treating infantile diarrhoea, the number two killer disease of children under five years in many developing countries and also evaluate these foods for immunostimulatory potentials.
She has published more than 140 papers in reputation journals both home (onshore) and abroad (offshore). Her current h-index is 14 and i-10 index of 21 (Google Scholar).
She served as the Editor in Chief for the School of Sciences' Journal of Research in Science and Management of her University between 2010 and 2012. She also served as Head, Department of Microbiology both in acting and substantive capacities for six years in her university. She was appointed a mentor by African Women in Agriculture, Research and Development (AWARD) in 2015 and she's also an active member of Organization for Women in Science for the Developing World (OWSD). In 2017, she was elected, Chapter President, OWSD and also appointed, Director, Centre for Gender issues in Science and Technology of her institution for 2 years.
She is a member of many academic bodies and a fellow of Africa Scientific Institute (ASI). She's widely travelled and participated in many international academic conferences presenting scientific papers in her research area.
